How to Open a Coconut
I love fresh coconut, it’s very delicious and refreshing. Opening a coconut however can be difficult, yet fun.
You will need:
Coconut
Hammer
Nail
Glass
Use the nail and hammer to puncture a hole into the coconut. Drain the coconut water from the coconut into a glass.

Take the coconut and set on a sturdy surface, hit with a hammer until it cracks open.

Split the coconut open. Then carefully separate the white flesh of the fruit from the hard outer shell. You may need to break it into a few smaller pieces to make this easier. Then after the hard shell is removed use a knife the remove the thin hard brown layer from the flesh. You can now enjoy the coconut raw (it stayed really well in the refrigerator for a few days) or you can use a box grater and grate the coconut, cover in powder sugar and toast in the oven.
